2023 "Nobby The Sweep" Sponsored Phelp Shield

The club hosted its annual drawn rinks tournament on Sunday 7th May 2023, which was once again hosted in excellent bowling conditions. This event was once again sponsored by “Nobby The Sweep”.

32 members were drawn in to 8 teams with each team being allocated an Express Lifts works team that has previously won the competition. This is the oldest club competition dating as far back as 1923. The represented teams were Accounts, Despatch, Drawing Office Plus, Gear Shop, Machine Shop, Maintenance, Sales and Stores.

The 8 teams were split in to two groups of 4 teams with the top two teams in each group progressing through to the semi finals, the 3rd place team qualifying for a 5th and 6th place play off and the teams bottom of the group playing off in the Wooden Spoon play off with the losing team being awarded the prestigious Wooden Spoon. The Semi final winners then played off a final in a bid to be named the 2023 Phelp Shield Winners.

The day included a spider, a BBQ and raffle amongst prizes being awarded to the winner and wooden spoon winners, courtesy of “Nobby The Sweep”.
